Did anyone watch "Hemingway & Gelhorn" Sunday night on HBO? I was super excited about it, as I love me some Hemingway. Spoiler alert: it's awful. I watched the first 22 minutes and turned it off. Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen have TERRIBLE American accents. I'm all for people of other nationalities playing American, as long as they can master the accent. In the same way that some Americans can play Brits, but they have to have believable accents (I'm looking at you, Ann Hathaway in "One Day" and every other movie where you've had a terrible English accent). I think I got spoiled with the best portrayal of Hemingway ever in "Midnight in Paris. No, seriously, take a look: click me! Maybe I'll go back and watch the film again on HBOGo, but I'd have to be very bored.
